Some problems with MAMEWAH
« on: February 07, 2004, 07:12:23 pm »
I'm installing MAMEWAH for the fist time. I have some problems. First of all, it doesn't display my snapshots in snap.zip. If I unzip them then they are displayed. Doesn't MAMEWAH support zipped snaps? Secondly, when I put the layout folder in the MAMEWAH folder and I run the frontend, I can only see the background, but no rom list. The menu appear dark grey with no letters, but it's still working. If I remove the layout folder then it appears fine again. Finally, although I have managed to get it to list all my roms, now when I select refresh list I get an error: run time error 75, path/file access error.

No, sorry :(

2) Secondly, when I put the layout folder in the MAMEWAH folder and I run the frontend, I can only see the background, but no rom list. The menu appear dark grey with no letters, but it's still working. If I remove the layout folder then it appears fine again.

With the layouts folder in place, do you have it set for a specific layout?  Or just the default 'Classic 640x480'?

3) Finally, although I have managed to get it to list all my roms, now when I select refresh list I get an error: run time error 75, path/file access error.

Are you using Win98?  If so, this could be a bug, which has a workaround ;)

I'm just using the classic 640x480. I'd like to use 640x288 for my ArcadeVGA. Yes, I use Win98. What's that workaround?

OK, make a batch file which does something like (substitute your mame path etc.):

c:
cd\mame
mame > temp
exit

Then run this batch file before MAMEWAH for the first time after boot-up.  It seems to work for everyone that's had the problem so far, so fingers crossed...
