Constructing my 2-player controller
« on: February 04, 2004, 11:07:55 pm »
After a few days of construction, my control panel is starting to take shape.  I still need to wire up the buttons before I can try it out (and my KeyWiz just arrived today, so I'll probably do that tomorrow).

The finishing touches (paint, t-molding, lexan, etc) will wait until Spring, when I can take it outside to paint it.

Here's a couple pics:

Not as exciting as some of the stuff people post here, but for my first project, I'm pretty stoked about it (can't wait to try some SF Alpha with it).

Nice, you got plenty of elbow room on that CP.  What's it's overall width?

The base is 36" wide and the top is 39" wide (though, I'm thinking of trimming a 1/2" off each side).

The controller was built to sit on my coffee table, so two people could play while sitting on my couch (it's going to be hooked up to my HTPC).

Looks good so far, at least you've started!  ;D :D
Half of the people you meet are below average.

Looks good. Beware, you won't have it long before the bug hits you to build a full cab. My stand alone controller was only finished for a few days before I started thinking about building a cab!

Good luck with the wiring and enjoy your project.

Hehe, well, I admit building a full cab would be cool.  But the cost and lack of space for one makes it prohibitive (probably a good thing, too!).  If anything I might build a smaller single player controller, but this time include things like a 4-way joystick, spinner, etc.  But it probably will be awhile before I do that...

I don't really have the space for one either, but I did it anyway. My wife is thrilled.  :-\ Well, she did call it 'cool' last night, so that's got to be a good sign...
