There is only one version that I have ever seen. It is called Golden Tee PC. It came out like 5 or 6 years ago, and will run on darn near anything.

amazon sometimes has better prices in used games then ebay... but I didn't find any golden tee golf.

they had peter jacobson's golden tee golf new for 15 bucks.

eBay is definately the way to go and can be found dirt cheap.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3076028073&category=11053

$2.95 min bid/$4.95 BIN.

As noted above, this is the only version that was ever released for PC.  I think it came out in '97.

It is not as good as the real thing, but not bad.

I have not yet played with a trackball...just a mouse, so I can't comment on how similar the real thing and the PC version are in that respect.  One difference between the two is that on the PC version you have to left-click before you swing each time.

Also, trick shots work slightly differently as I recall.  Instead of a two point movement (A1, A2, B1, etc), there is a three point movement rquired (A1B, etc).

Overall, worth having on your cab, though.

hmm, well i want the actual game that was released for the pc....if i have to spend some extra money then so be it.  ive checked reviews and stuff on ign.com and gamepro, and i think they talk about the other version, not the peter jacobson version.  thoughts?

hulkster081,

I could be wrong, but I believe there is only the one version of Golden Tee for PC.
If you have seen something different than what is in the eBay auction I linked, please provide a link to it (I'd love to check it out!).

Thanks,
Mark

The addon courses just install and then appear in the course selection.

The courses are pretty much the 97-98 gtg coarses.

I bought one from Ebay, and it's pretty cool for PC, but it's not exactly like the arcade version. It's VERSION 1.06 or something like that.

You can't modify the way it works.  IE: the keys or inputs.

The CD has to be in the drive all the time.  I did copy it, and a copy still works and installs.

As far as I know you can't even run it on ME and 2000, at least as far as I can tell.  Every time I have tried to do that with the original disk, it won't work.  It might have something to do with the video card or the DirectX version.  It will install, but it bombs out with no error message.

It's still real fun, and well worth the <$10 price.  But I think the one I got from Ebay is bogus too. The label looks really "dot matrix".

An option to get around leaving it in the drive is to install a Virtual CD software that makes an image of it on you hard drive, and mounts it like a cd drive.

I had done this with the pc ports of Dragon's Lair an Space Ace too.

Just a thought. ;)

I've had a look around and it seems it won't run with 2000/XP... I'd love someone to prove me wrong!  :D

Seems to just die on my 2000 PC too

The full version works on XP, but not 2000. I never had to put in compatability mode either. ;D

If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

I can verify that it works on XP and the add on courses work as well. You can't assign keys to it, but may not need to. There are hot keys for camera angles and mouse calibration and what not. Go into setup and leave the mouse in a section for a second and a pop-up will come up telling you the hot key. As far as gameplay hot keys; right arrow moves golfer right, left arrow moves golfer left, up arrow clubs up, down arrow clubs down, etc...

Just a question out of curiosity and if I can't ask something like this here, then let me know and I'll edit this out...when do copyright laws stop protecting a piece of software? Reason I ask is because you can not buy this new anymore. I emailed the people at Incredible and they told me they no longer make Golden Tee PC and I couldn't purchase it from them.

current laws are 75 years I believe (yes... very very stupid)...

And after the company looses interest... that all you usually care about..  Then it moves to abandonware (see http://www.the-underdogs.org/)... but this is actually illegal... but since nobody is there to complain... its considered basically ok...

but look to buy it used... very very cheap.
