Best emulators for other platforms(beside mame)?
«

Folks,
I want to setup emulators for Atari, Sega, Snes/Nes, and N64.
What is the best emulator to run for each of these platforms?
There seems to be so many choices out there. Please help me
narrow it down.
Thanks,
Crayola

You haven't stated what Atari or Sega systems you want to run...but I'm guessing 2600 & Genesis:
2600: Z26
Genesis: Gens
SNES: ZSNES
NES: FCE Ultra
N64: Project 64
...are popular choices

something to note about n64 emulation.... it depends upon the games you wish to run. You really need about two or 3 to run a full set properly.

Am I drastically mistaken, or isn't N64 emulation still in a pretty infantile state? Last time I checked, most emulators can Run, on average, like 30-40 roms, and of them, maybe 10 run "perfectly".
Has it gotten drastically better than this?
Commodore 64: CCS64
Game boy Advance: Virtual Boy Advance
(check out

, etc for more ideas..)

Yeah that's what I'm getting at. They will run a lot more games now, but very few are perfect and emu a won't run what emu b does ect....

Resistance is... probably a good idea.

1964 and Project 64 together cover the N64
pretty
well...like Howard said it's still far from perfect (depending on the game). My solution is to use a PSX emulator as most of the console games I want to play on my cab exist on both systems. Granted this leaves out the Nintendo only titles, but they seem to be pretty well covered by the two emulators already mentioned...if you're willing to forgive an occassional sound glitch. Oh
THE
Playstation emulator of choice is ePSXe...don't even waste your time looking at anything else. Just rip the games to HD and run the image...simple.
