Marquee Ideas/Design assistance
« on: January 31, 2004, 02:22:28 am »
Hey all,

Since my photoshop and art skills are not the best I was wondering if someone would be willing to help with the design of a marquee for my cab.  I have a picture in mind for sideart which includes a dragon made out of fire.  My idea for a marquee was to have the entire thing surrounded by flames, with the word Fire Dragon written in Kanji in the middle (there are various English-Kanji translators on the web).  My thought was that the Kanji would be in Red block type letters, with Yellow out-lines (to closely match my cab and sideart).  Any one want to try to give this a shot for me?  Or if anyone has any suggestions or idea on what else might look good...I'm open for suggestions.  The size of my marquee is 21" width X 7 1/4" height.  Any designs, ideas or suggestions would be great.  Thanks in advance.

I could do something like that for ya but i need to learn how to make marquees compatible with printers from printshops, sometimes what you're doing is not what it comes out from the printers... :-\

Here's an idea - though since this is a vector illustration, the flames aren't photoreal (but then that's how I prefer cabinet art) :)

I'll e-mail you the Illustrator file. Just don't use the JPEG I posted for printing (as it is WAY too low a resolution and has been rasterized). I also have a few variations so I'll send those as well, along with JPEGs so you can preview them and choose which to print.

Enjoy. I'm really glad you like it! Of course, you must post pictures of the final cab.  ;D

Have you checked out classicarcadegrafix.com for the printing?

Pixelhugger,

Thanks, I'll be looking for the images that you send, and I can't wait to see them all.  I've been looking for a good place to have my marquee printed at...I'll check out classicarcadegrafix.com...if you recommend them then I will most definitely send them the buisness.  Again, I can't thank you enough for all the work on this, and I'll be posting the cabinet pictures as soon as I get it together...working on my webpage, but haven't had a chance to get it all together.  Again, can't wait to see the images, and I really appreciate the hard work.

Here's the best of the alternate designs. The others are too similar to use up Saint's bandwidth to host. I'll email them instead. I really like the blue fire, but realize that may not be appropriate for the overall theme of the cab.  :P

Would you like a CP to match whichever design you end up with for the marquee?

Pixelhugger,

Wow, the blue one is outstanding as well, when I get home I'll have to compare both of them and see which one seems to go best with the cab.  It would be awesome if you could design a CP to match the design as well...I'll let you know which one I decide to go with.  Thanks again these are truly amazing and I really appreciate all the hard work.  I'll let you know which one I end up going with.  On a side note, is there anything special that needs to be done to send the file to classicarcadegrafix.com?  I've decided to go with them for the final print, their stuff looks great.

I really like the blue design better. The lettering pops out better.

Pixelhugger,

The blue flames marquee is the one that I've decided to go with.  I agree that it makes the letter pop out better, and I think it will go perfectly with my cab, I can't wait to get it printed  ;D.  All I can say is that you do amazing work and this marquee really will complete the cab nicely.  I can't wait to see the CP design as well.  :)  Thank you again, I'll post pictures as soon as I get it in place.
