Touchscreen jukebox software as of 2017
« on: October 03, 2017, 08:53:38 am »
I have been trying to make a decision on which software to use. From what I have found, there are only a few touch designed programs that act more like a jukebox than a library. They are E-touch (freebox), Touchjams, and DWjuke. Zenpoint seems in the middle of juke/library. DWjuke seems more suited to a retrofit of a console juke. My intent is a Famous brand bar juke knockoff for parties. The demo of E-touch has proved very difficult to me to get up and running due to setting up the database (tags/album art). Touchjams demo is too short on time to test out and doesn't seem to offer any lockout or party mode where certain options like Settings, Play now, track skip, Volume, and others are removed. Any info on this or other software would be appreciated.

I’m a huge fan of DWJukebox. It’s not flashy, it just plays music. I can customize the theme, which is a bonus.

Check out album player. When I was looking almost everything else looked like it was designed 10+years ago.

I can agree with the dated looks using TJ, but Etouch has amazing user downloadable skins. DW in my opinion is for someone wanting a free program or modding a vintage juke. It lacks in what i'm after. Albumplayer seems to have no lockout mode for parties. That can get frustrating when a guest starts editing the selections or playlist. The largest issue I found with Etouch is setting up the library and album art. The forum help is good, but it is overseas with a 12hr. time difference. that makes a walk through with an issue very time consuming.

Whats up with the verification and question at each post? I would think that registering would be good enough.

I’ll disagree with you on DW. It does everything I need, and my juke was a scratch built wall-mount. It’s also highly customizable.

TouchJams does have Party Mode (Protected).  If you need a longer evaluation than what the demo provides I can help with that - support@touchjams.com

I have been running DWJukebox on my WinXP MAME machine for many years and it is perfect for my needs. Eventually I want to build a dedicated jukebox cabinet, but I don't want to mess around with another Windows machine for it.
Anyone tried to run DWJukebox in DOSBox on a Raspberry Pi?
The doscab file runs fine in DOSBox 0.74 on a Windows 7 machine, based on a very brief test.
