Should I use this name? Graphics?
« on: January 28, 2004, 04:54:09 pm »
Here is a rough idea of the cab idea I have.

I am a Nascar fan and I thought the name "NASCARCADE" was cool.  I have also thought of using some "Real" cars for sideart images.

Now, the question is: Should I do this, will Nascar or the arcade police come after me?  Should I worry about any legal issues?

As an alternative I have considered calling it "CARCADE" as you can see from the second picture. I could use generic cars, without the sponsors and logos.

It will not be for racing games exclusively, just thought it looked cool.
The silver areas might be diamond plating, would work great as a kickplate at the base and look good around the control panel.

And yes the front looks huge for a reason, it is a large "Box" to hold all the stuff up front.  I am going to make it a four player cab and most of the designs I have seen look too top heavy.

I welcome any and all comments, thanks.

The only way they would come after you is if you sold it commercially.  Having a cabinet in your house and calling it whatever you want, no one will bother you.

Here is the top view, pretty ambitious for a first project...

The front section with the two steering wheels is a removable panel.

Might be a bit more than you want to spend but it'd probably be pretty cool to make this thing out of a tool chest.

"Driving around in a circle-cade" sorry, I guess I just don't get it(racing).
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

maybe "Yeeeeeee hawwwrrrrcade"

or

"Mulletmame"

no im just kidding i live in Kentucky so go figure ::)  but im not a big nascar fan.  anyway im not sure if you can get the word Nascar to fit nicely with arcade.  it just doesnt sound right.  Nascade sounded okay, but it still doesnt sound good.  just my 2 cents.

I'd give the edge to CARCADE, though NASCARCADE is good too.  I like the logo.  There had better be some racing games and a steering wheel on there!

Ya, I thought "Mulletmame" was pretty funny. Except I am not a redneck, or ever wanna be...

I like the idea from Tilzs to use a tool chest.  But then though why not make my own? "B.Y.O.T.C."
I will have to see what it looks like.  I want to keep the whole Nascar theme, but not go too crazy with the design.  I want it to look good, but have more attention on playing and having fun.

I am actually looking for a tiny steering wheel to use for the spinner. I have seen some used for RC car controllers.  If I can find one to fit the shaft that would be best.

Here is the sideart I am working on, still a rough sketch or idea...

I think tha 'NASCARCADE' is actually pretty clever. You're going to have to have a steering wheel!

Ya, I need one for the cab and one for the driver, (shown above). Right now he's tryin' to hitch a ride.

For my cab I am going to have a removable front panel. I can then hook up a steering wheel for PC/mame games and another panel with two mini wheels for the PS2.
