ModChip Installers (finally getting it done)

Has anyone here gotten (is that even a word?) their consoles modchipped by one of those "profesionals" out there on the internet?  
What were the results?
I've come across this website www.modchipman.com, and it seems pretty cool, and a decent deal, but I'm not sure how trustworthy the reviews on his site are, I mean, who's to say that he doesn't just post the good ones and trash the bad?
Well anyway, yea, I wan't to modchip my PS2 (for backup reasons only!) and if anyone knows of any place out there that can mod it for me, it would be super-cool if you posted it.

I don't know about online guys...But, you should try looking in your local classifieds or in any papers/websites where people can sell stuff for low/no advertising fees<buysell.com in Canada>.  In most cities I've looked in, you'll find an abundance of people who do this kind of stuff <myself included>.  It'll be much cheaper on the wallet <shipping wise>, and you won't have to trust that your ps2 doesn't get dropped in the mail.

I agree, find someone local in your area.  I see people saying they will even let you watch/wait while they mod it.

Its also much harder for the modder to keep your xbox and not give it back to you if your standing there.

I've heard of this scheme before. Send me your xbox I'll mod it super cheap. Then they never send it back. Another popular scheme is to not chip it and just flash the onboard rom or to use a cheapmod which costs $6-10 instead of the $50 chip you paid them for. This still lets you play backups but is no where near as functional as a goo chip. So at the minimum get some references.

my friend wanted his 'box modded, and a nearby store wanted 300 bucks! kepp in mind that they are not cheap. i just modded it for him for free.ask anyone you know about their soldering/electronic skills, and take the to xbox-scene.com, let them read the tutorial and have them do it for you.

While browsing DDRfreak.com I came accross a guy in conneticuit that will install my modchip for $10.  So it looks like I'm finally going to get it done YAY!  Unfortunatly, it's like 80 miles from my house.  And on top of that, I'm going about half way there this weekend and the modchip hasn't come in the mail yet...  what the heck!  why can't things just work out for me?  I suppose there is still a small chance that it will show up in the next couple of days, but I highly doubt it.

I may be wrong, but I think this is an indication that it might acctually be here before the weekend...
