Bezel for rotating monitor -any ideas out there?
« on: June 04, 2002, 03:22:06 am »
Hi!

Basically I know who to make a bezel -but since I'm going to have this rotating monitor on my cab, I wonder how I shall get this close enough to the glass so that you can't lurk beside the monitor?
If the monitor would stand in one position, the Lexan could probable "lean" on the monitor (e.g. with black tape between), but how to make it with a rotating one?
Any ideas? I still wanna have the possibility to add some artwork on the sides of the bezel to get a more authentic look.

Why not make a big black circle that is that same diameter as the diagonal dimensions of the monitor? It would have a rectangular hole in the center for the screen, and would rotate with the monitor, behind a sheet of fixed plexiglass. The bezel artwork could be affixed to the back of the plexi so that it doesn't rotate.

Check out what I did... I have a rotating monitor and I'm happy with how my glass/bezel
came out.  BTW how are you implementing your swappable panels?  I'm always curious about
people handle those... mine is kinda awkward and time consuming to build panels, but sturdy.

Oh yeah, here's the link:

Hi!

Thanx, I though also if a bezel from Happ (or someone else) would work on a rotating monitor - as I'd like to go the more authentic route I'll try to do it this way, too.

Did the bezel easily fit on your monitor?

My controlpanels are not done yet, so it would take some time until I can show how I made them swap! (hope it works as easy as I want)

Cheers

i just used quad to make a frame and painted everything satin black. if i look closely on mine, there is an actual gap on a corner of the monitor where i hacked it off but you really cant see past the different kinds of black, including the black of nothingness!
