Problem installing CRT Emudriver on Radeon HD 5450 - Code 43

I'm trying to set up CRT Emudriver and GroovyMAME on 64 bit Windows 7 using an ArcadeVGA 5000 (Radeon HD 5450).

I had issues so I started from scratch and removed all ATI drivers from the system, so my device manager said i had a Standard VGA Adapter. I installed CRT Emudriver 2.0 beta 8 according to the instructions, and the setup program indicated it was successful. I have the "Test Mode" watermark in the lower right, everything seemed fine, no errors.

However, when I reboot after installing the driver, my device manager shows the problem (!) indicator over the "ATI Radeon HD 5450 (CRT Emudriver - WDDM v1.20)". If I click Properties, under Device Status I see "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".  Why is the driver not working for me?

When I run vmmaker.exe I predictably get "No compatible driver found." so it's definitely not working. How can I fix this?

Unless something has changed recently, you can't use CRT_Emudriver on an ArcadeVGA 5000.  It's not a stock AMD/ATI card.  It has a custom BIOS and requires special drivers from Ultimarc.

Is that really the case that CRT Emudriver cannot be installed on an ArcadeVGA 5000? I've seen other posts in other boards on this forum that seem to be implying it should be possible.
