Need help to hide the buttons on my Coffe table

Hy all,

i try to build my first own Arcade coffee table.
I want that the buttons flip in/out with the Drawer, but i donīt have a good idea how to solve it:(



In this video you can see what i mean.
Anybody have a solution for this Problem?
Or Maybe anybody build it like this?

You are only limited by your imagination.

1. have your buttons on a hinge that flips open or shut.
2. Have a cover that hides your buttons that moves or flips out of the way
3. Have a cover for the whole table that hides everything.
4. Put the controls in drawers that slide open and lock.
5. Use Break out controllers that stow under the table...

That's what I came up with in 2 seconds. Give it some thought and find something that is doable that meets your needs.

The mechanism is similar to the attached diagram. (not drawn to scale)

There are two vertical supports (green) for the control panel near the left-rear and right-rear corners of the control panel.

When you push in the drawer (purple), two pivot-arms (red) attached to the body of the table keep the bottom of each vertical support from moving back with the drawer.

Rounding the bottom-back edge of each vertical support will smooth the transition.

Hmm think in my first post is clear what i want. My Problem is to realize it and this is what i ask for.

Two more minor suggestions:

1. Make a 1:1 cardboard mockup of the diagram to play with positions/angles -- it's easier than doing it in wood.

2. If the panel doesn't come down fast enough for the joystick to clear, move the red/green pivot point maybe 1/4 or 1/3 of the way up the green piece.  This gives more vertical drop for less horizontal travel.

Here is my suggestion.  If this is your first project, especially if you don't do much woodworking, you may want to start with something simpler.  Just a simple control panel would work for a start and then go from there.  Also if you intend to put a monitor inside the table itself you might want to put a tv or something on top of the table for a while and see if you like it.  Imho cocktail cabs are only good for very short bursts, otherwise your neck starts getting sore looking down like that.

Yes, itīs my first project For the woodworks iīve my brother, he is specialized with woodworks.
For the other things you are right. I made a test before and i canīt play for a long time. So we decided to use two panels. For playing short games, i use the Panel in the Drawer. If i want to play for a longer time, i have a "portable" panel. Also the Monitor will have a "Flip" mechanism that you can put up the monitior.

Since space is an issue, check out some of the "Tully cabaret" and "Vigolix" builds.
