I needed 5 min to kill so I looked at the argument.  Malenko is right.  He responded pretty much how I would.  Be chuffed that you have such great, experienced arcade enthusiasts around to give free advice.  We lead horses to water, teach men to fish, ect.  Enjoy the aspect of the hobby when you know absolutely nothing and you have to research, because you only experience it once.  Most of us just sit around and complain about stuff to each other at this point.

I've stopped tip-toeing around the newb butterflies. The ones that can take the cold hard facts without being fluffed are the ones I'd like to see stick around here. The rest can kick rocks.

I personally love when people get bent out of shape over nothing. Gives me something better to read while I poop

No. It's irony day:

My teenaged daughter expressed an interest in building her own PC, I'm stoked to provide her with the experience.

Quick visit to Newegg and we have a nice little starter build on its way using a new AMD Ryzen chip.
I will enjoy sharing the experience from opening the boxes to first boot.
Who knows maybe she'll get hooked.

Dropkick Murphys clearly hated performing their biggest hit when I saw them a few years back.   :lol  That should be a great show, though.

Chuff things for me.

Shedding 15 pounds after sticking to some good nutrition and exercise. Getting stronger with the bodyweight training I'm doing.  The chin up bar is my nemesis. Most men can't do 5 full pull ups.  When I started I could barely do one, now I can just crank out five.  When I can do ten I'll reset my goals. Most women can't even do a single pull-up but that's just a physiological difference particularly in the shoulders and back muscles. Women tend to be naturally better at sit-ups by comparison.  Years ago a certain (fit) lady challenged a group of us cocky guys, as to how many pull-ups she could do.  We said “five” and she proceeded to power through ten of them to our goggle eyed amazement.

Getting through another Winter.  I goddam hate the cold.  Most winters I do nothing, just put on weight and get lazy.  Not this Winter.

Getting back into hobby stuff, arcade related included, after a series of unfortunate events. I was pretty much ready to forget about the arcade hobby for good. No interest or passion in it any more, unable to finish projects etc. etc.  Turns out those unfortunate events were kind of liberating.  A hobby should NEVER be like working even if you love your job. I’m happy to be tinkering in the garage again but with a different point of view.

Adios, $200.

That's awesome, man.  Good for you.  I'm going through a premature mid-life crisis and have gone under the tutelage of a body building physician for the last few months.  Sad to say I'm currently stronger than I've ever been.  He tells me I've progressed from "weak, ugly ---smurfette---" to "ugly ---smurfette---" in between screaming at me in Spanish.

:lol Well, I can tell you from experience that nothing kicks the old mid-life crisis in the balls harder than getting fitter, more flexible and stronger.  Good on ya Jim.  I started getting pissed off that I'd ache all over after just doing simple stuff like gardening or working on the car not to mention I couldn't fit into my favourite Levi 501's without popping the top button.  I don't ache at all any more the day after hard physical work.  The only downside is a cupboard full of clown pants. Good news for you dudes in your 30s and 40s!

Americans using kg is just weird. Like when my friends cater to me by saying temperatures in Celsius, it's like "yeah I know your silly fahrenheits, its not that hard".

My part of Houston has the speed limit signs in both MPH and KM.  It's extraordinarily weird but I guess it's good for all the international folk.

As I've expressed before, the metric system is every bit as stupid and arbitrary as imperial, perhaps more so as imperial's units of measure are actually based around real sizes/weights/ect, while metric just pulls units out of it's butt yet it's supposed to be better because it's base 10.

Celsius vs Fahrenheit might be the exception though as Celsius temps are based around the boiling and freezing points of water while Fahrenheit is based upon some guy sticking a thermometer outside and saying "yeah we'll call that a 62".  That doesn't mean I'll switch, but it does make more sense.

Lets not get all bent out of shape over measurements systems.  I did a whole cab design in imperial for the benefit of others.  For me that was awkward and unatural and I ended up with silly dimensions like 5/32".  I appreciate the effort in converting, just the same.

Down to 76kg here! 12.7 kilos lighter than the start of the year.

Damn! You are 3 kilos lighter than me.

... Fahrenheit is based upon some guy sticking a thermometer outside and saying "yeah we'll call that a 62".  That doesn't mean I'll switch, but it does make more sense.

Didn't he put a thermometer in a solution of salt water or something like that? ;P
