Power Monitor On By Plugging It In
« on: December 31, 2016, 11:41:43 pm »
I am currently away and do not have access to my monitor model/serial number.

I found an old post regarding this issue but the user never replied how he hacked his monitor.

I need the monitor inside my arcade machine to turn on when it receives power (plugged in).

Right now I am using a remote control.

I understand that some monitors have a setting for this but I do not believe mine does.

I am guessing I need to wire the power button in some way.

Thank you in advance.

My apologies, could you elaborate please? I'm inexperienced.  :-\

SCART is a standard European 21-pin connector for audio-visual equipment.

Was that even what he was asking? I thought he meant that when he powers on his monitor, it comes up in standby mode, so he has to use the remote to turn it on. Which problem I have no idea how to fix properly, and would suggest trying a timed relay on a standby switch, if there is one. You could wire it to the remote button, but that pretty much puts the remote out of use for other purposes.

Thank you both. Buttersoft, you are correct. That is what I was asking. I have to use the remote. I wonder if I could wire the power button to an external button.

Try jamming in the power switch with a toothpick.  Sometimes you get lucky and the TV will turn off and on with the plug after you've done that.

True. I have tested that method on this TV but it did not work. I should have mentioned that in my initial post. Thank you.

If you could generate the IR code that turns on the system, you could install the ir led close to the tvset and activate it for a couple of seconds at powerup. Maybe you could use the electronics of a universal remote for this. Some are pretty cheap.
