[SOLVED] Fatal error with ATOM-15
« on: December 31, 2016, 11:23:42 am »
I'm configuring a pc to put inside the arcade cabinet, using a ATI 5450 and a J-PAC. I have followed this guide (http://geedorah.com/eiusdemmodi/forum/viewtopic.php?id=301) and the result was excelent. I was able to see the PC on the arcade monitor and play mame.

I decided to use atom-15 to flash the bios in order to have 15 kHz from the beginning, using this guide (http://geedorah.com/eiusdemmodi/forum/viewtopic.php?id=64)

I followed these steps:

    1) cd C:\atiwinflash
    2) atiflash -s 0 bios.rom
    3) Use atom-15.exe to patch the BIOS.
    4) atiflash -p 0 bios-mod.rom
    5) Reboot

And after rebooting the system, 1 long beep and 3 short beeps.  :'(

Apparently the procedure went OK, with no errors or warnings. Any idea what could have gone wrong?

The only way to restore the card is with one computer with 2 PCI slots? I have none and no noone with one ... Just my motherboard with integrated graphic card ...

 :'( :'( :'(

The warning was in red capitals for a reason.

I always use and recommend the DOS alternative when flashing.

Check your bios, if you're lucky enough, it might allow forcing the integrated gpu on boot. I'm yet to see one bios with that option, but I've heard they do exist.

Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

I was fully aware that it might go wrong,  i'm just sad that it went wrong for me.

And specially I wanted to know if I did something wrong or it was just meant to happen.

Next time I'll use the DOS alternative for sure.

I'll check my bios (asus H81m-plus) and check if possible.

Thank you and happy new year!

Nice. I have been able to select in the bios the IGPU as the primary device, and was able to enter windows with both cards connected.
I made the bootable disk with the atiflash and the mod bios, and managed to flash it to the card. It's working now flawlessly.
