Getting Windows 10 to work on an 800x600 monitor
« on: December 30, 2016, 04:06:28 pm »
Hi,

I have the Makvision SVGA 800x600 monitor. It worked fine when my rig had windows XP on it, but I installed windows 10, so I could use internet safely and play some modern titles, now I get a message that says OVER SPECIFICATIONS.

The only way I can get the monitor to work in windows 10 is if I boot up the computer on a regular pc monitor and then switch the vga cable over to the Makvision once it is all booted up. Is there a way I can get this thing to work with my Makvision without having to plug and unplug it? lI have an arcadevga I could use if that helps, but right now i'm using my old GTX 570 video card.

Thanks!

Angel

Hmmm, something like CRU can instruct the system to use specific modelines only. You can remove the modes you don't want. It might work, if there's a Win10 update? I say that, as my own efforts to have CRU produce 15kHz modes on Nvidia have failed abysmally. But 15kHz on Nvidia is a special case, and this isn't a 15kHz mode you're after.

Going to bump this.  I have had a terrible time with my 2929 SVGA and Windows 7.  I can get the desktop to come up fine and Hyperspin, but half of the games go to Out of Range..... Then I can't get it back to the desktop without saying out of range and....well it has been a nightmare.
