LCD TV screen for stand up cabinet?
« on: December 10, 2016, 02:41:04 pm »
Hey guys, Im a super newbie when it comes to anything computer so excuse me if this is a stupid question....

I have a stand up arcade style multi game and the cabinet is shoddy, and the old screen isnt the best. I have a bar at the house and want to take all the internals and controls out of the cabinet and install them into a custom sit down table.  Thats the easy part.  ;)  Instead of the original screen I wanted to run an LCD flat screen tv I have mounted on the wall.

I have the system up and running and tried just unplugging the RCA jacks from the original game screen and plugging them into my inputs on the TV and it doesnt work.

Can you school me why?  Is it a power thing or Hz thing?  Can I buy something to make this work?

Any help is appreciated, I want to be jousting and defending soon!

TIA

EB

I dont know anything here, whats a PCB?

Its a stand up arcade style game with 12 games programmed into it.   Inside it just has the power supply and a small box that the controller wires go into, and RCAs out of that. Im guessing thats where all the circuit board lives since there is nothing that goes to the screen but the RCAs.  If I open the game box would there be setting switches inside?

I can provide any pictures you would like to help me get it up and running, Ive never messed with these things.

Thanks.

Sounds like a Midway ' s Greatest Hits cab. Don't bother opening the box, you won't find DIPs.

Keep doing your research. You sound like you want step by step instructions, but I'm not sure you're going to find those here.

Yes, its a Midway cab.  Is it possible?  if not Im good with that.....I  Just dont know. :dunno

Yeah, I would need to find someone that has done it and can just tell me what I need to do.  I just didnt know if it was just something simple or a PITA, if its not a plug and play thing I wont bother.  Its really not that big a deal, its just easier to fit in the bar if I can do away with the cabinet.

I saw the RCAs and hoped I could just plug another screen into it......not looking so.  :embarassed:
