Cave games (320x240 60hz)
« on: December 08, 2016, 04:53:13 am »
Apologies for starting a new thread, I searched but couldn't find the answer.

I've been running Groovymame for some time on XP and finally made the move to W7. It's amazing and really glad I made the jump. The only games I'm have problems with are the CAVE SH3 vertical shooters. For some reason Switchres insists on choosing 480i rather than 240p I'm using a MS9 with a HD5450 card.

Any help would be appreciated.

Unless you're using a vertical monitor, I'd say Switchres is doing the right thing.
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Apologies, I wasn't clear. My MS9 is vertical.

I use the same graphic card and same monitor, also on windows 7. I have no issue (except maybe the mandatory option to avoid slow down)
cv1k.ini :
triplebuffer 1

I only use this command if I notice slow down in game causing warped records like sounds

vertical.ini :
orientation vertical

So vertical game are forced in vertical orientation.

What's your groovymame version ?

Running GM0.180. I fixed the issue by creating a .ini file (similar to your suggestion above) and the vertical resolution is now correct.

That shouldn't be necessary.

Triplebuffer 1 ?
I'll give 0.180 a try but using 0.171 it is mandatory or else
there are too many drop in emulation %
This happen only with demanding games.
