Help CRT to PC NOOB.

Hello everyone first let me say if this is posted in the wrong place I apologize having monitor/video issues so i came here.

I have exhausted my limited knowledge in setting up my new cab and hoping to get some input from the pros. 

Going to give as much detail as possible without being confusing.

I recently acquired a new arcade cab with a wg25k7191 Monitor. The monitor is spliced to a VGA Cable.

It's a rarer Gargoyle cab that actually ran off of a real Sega Genesis console so there is no Jamma or Jpac or anything else inside. (I still have the original guts but they were removed and the cab was modded for a mame setup hence the vga splice.)

When I received it there was an older mame computer with an arcade vga card but that system was not working from the beginning. Pulled it out couldn't get motherboard or card to work.

I decided to start with a new system all together from what I had gathered I decided to run a windows 7 dual core pc with a ati radeon hd4350.

So whats happening is the crt picture is split down the middle and scrolling up and down. The same end result with every way i tried.

This leaves me with several questions.
1 - Is it the graphic card and can I run straight from the PC to the monitor or do i need additional hardware in between like a jamma or jpac? I have read that this card can be a problem but also its the best. Same model as the walk through i used.  Ati Radeon hd4350. Its blue instead of red most of the ones i have seen are red idk why mine is blue.

I did it all from one pc monitor instead of using two.
I don't even have groovy mame yet I just wanted to get the picture working first. Any kind of clear picture. Do I need groovy mame yet? I don't think so.

3 - The monitor. When I turn it on I can hear it. Sounds like turning on any old tv unattached it stays pure black no flashes or anything. When I turn it off a blue box that comes from all four corners shrinks into nothing in about a second. I think that's normal. I can send pics if it helps. Is there a way to troubleshoot the monitor maybe to rule it out? I don't think its broken but definitely a possibility.

I have put about two weeks into this an I'm a little defeated. Any help would be VERY much appreciated because I don't think I can find anyone that can help with this kind of project outside the internet. Willing to send pics, videos whatever it takes I'm getting this thing working its such a shame sitting here unusable.

You should follow the guide verbatim unless you know what you're doing. That's the purpose of the guide.

Ok trying to post vid and pic after following the guide the correct way. But it wont let me post anything keeps saying files too large -_- The end result is a fast scrolling screen. Ok no need to mess with the software by now.

It's a vertical sync problem. On your monitor chassis, there must be a little board with potentiometers, find the one named V-hold. Try adjusting it with care until the picture stops rolling. If you can't achieve that, then focus on the cable.

The spliced vga cable. You need to determine how the h-sync and v-sync lines from the vga are wired to the monitor. Notice your monitor can handle separate (negative or positive) and composite sync. Different pins are used on the chassis. A default installation of CRT Emudriver 2.0 outputs negative sync (separate). If your monitor is expecting composite sync, then both h and v links should be wired together.

Alright first off thanks so much for the responses. Is there a diagram anywhere for these wires I don't know what color is what.

There's a black wire that's just clipped and not attached to anything coming from the monotor end. None of the wires coming from the monitor side are together so that might be the problem if I can locate the h and v link colors. Does any of this look right or was it a bad wiring job?

Ok after looking at everything it looks like this is a special vga cable labeled for doing this kind of job. The h and v wires do look to be in fact wired together to the white monitor wire. The monitors side only has green red brown white and a regular wire I'm assuming is power.

Check specifically which sync pins on the chassis are being used. You have pins for positive and negative polarity. The negative ones should be used.

Ok starting to get complicated but im gonna figure it out. lol His is connected to the pins different but he doesn't have a power wire incorporated like mine does. He also has two separate pin connectors. Is there somewhere i can buy a new monitor cord to start over or is it hand made. I found the vga cable on a couple sites but cant find the monitor cable with the pin connector. I'm kind of confused because he has the negative h and v going to his video card so he can use a light gun.

You need to find a manual for your exact chassis.

In the meantime, it would be of help to have a CRT pc monitor,  so you can connect it to the garbled output and read the actual frequencies on its osd, just to discard other stuff.

I have the manual I can see where all the pins need to be connected. I'm down to a few variables. The v and h wires together are going to the h positive pin. I could try it to the v positive or try seperating them back to there original pins. But there's also v and h negative. I think I should be using positive. I don't understand why people solder them together instead of just keeping them separate to their original pins. I need to get a new pin connecter because this one has the 5th connector (v) removed. I'm gonna try and get a crt pc monitor tomorrow if I can't get it working.

The v and h sync cables are wired together to mix the signals and create composite sync. Your chassis acceps composite sync through the h pin, either positive or negative. The issue going on there is your PC is outputting negative sync, but the cable (h+v) is going to the h positive pin, which expects positive composite sync.

So basically your options are:

- Connect the cable (h+v) to the h negative pin, or
- Change the polarity of all your video modes to positive with CRT Emudriver (VMMaker), or
- Split the sync lines and connect them as negative separate sync, h- and v- pins (not worth probably).

Maybe you need to readjust the v-hold potentiometer since you messed with it in previous steps.

This really made my day spent over two weeks getting a computer and hyperspin to work just to find out the monitor was messed up took me about 3 weeks but now I can play some games!
