I don't get why people say this place isn't newbie friendly. Commodore Scott welcomes them aboard, PBJ notices their thread and gives his opinion, people comment... what more should be done? Participation medals at the outset?

Sheesh, can we let the OP get offended first before we go off the rails on people? If I were a newbie, I'd see a PBJ comment as a badge of honor. And I've learned you just give it right back to him. Anyone who's been here a while knows that.

Maybe I just haven't met the right cheese steak.  I mean, I'm from Vancouver Canada, the last place you'd think a good cheese steak would come from. I do like cheese, and I love steak...conceptually they would be great together, but I haven't experienced the umami of that situation yet.
