I'd drop the 'cade' if only to save yourself a whole load of posts saying "drop the 'cade'"

You're going to theme an arcade cabinet after a game that's unplayable with arcade controls?  Brilliant!

Just name it SelectiveCade, slap Ryu and Puzzle Bobble artwork on it, and get on with life.

Just ignore pbj, he wasn't hugged enough as a child.

I'm really interested to see Fallout artwork for this cab, I dig the aesthetics of those games.

Does ordering a box of tinker toys constitute sawing a board?

Heh.

I guess dude doesn't realize that the cheesesteaks comment is my goto when the conversation gets silly. I haven't had a cheesesteak in over a year.

And for the OP, although I agree with Jim, well... build what you dig.

I think we have derailed this thread enough. That being said, it is just a little irritating when some good natured ribbing gets someone who is not even the OP bent out of shape. I know being offended by proxy is the new thing, but I refuse to get on board.

Back to the subject at hand, a bartop kit seems like a good way to get your feet wet in this hobby. Please keep posting pics. I am relatively new to this site and there are people who really want to help and who really know their stuff. You just have to put on your helmet every now and then.

I agree. I think the bar top is just fine. As far as the theme goes, if he made it look like something that came from the Fallout world, that's one thing. If it just has a bunch of Fallout stickers plastered over it, well, that's different. But again, build what you dig.

to get this train back on track I'd go with something like "Vault-Tec retro game player" or something like that. Based in Fallout not on Fallout, ya know?

I kinda like that design (minus the giant speakers on the front). It is more based on Fallout rather than a Fallout-cade.

Does anyone else dislike the Fallout games, or is it just me?  It's always felt like just me.  I've hated it since back in the 90s, the humor just falls flat and the retro-futuristic thing is tired.

Fallout 4 looks like last generation and runs like crap.

I didn't get 'offended' on his behalf. But this place isn't often newbie friendly. I lurk 99% of the time, and it's impressive how often threads go like this. Someone posts the start of a build, pbj makes snarky comments because he's a dick, and then it generally just goes to hell thereafter. Heaven forbid I show interest in the actual ---smurfing--- build.

For the record, I was the one who started the snarky sarcastic comment. pbj followed. Personally I feel a game like Fallout is so far removed from anything arcade related that it just seems silly as a theme. And like it's been said, until there is actual progress made, it's all talk. So the only thing interesting right now is the odd choice of theme. what the hell else are we supposed to talk about?

I don't get why people say this place isn't newbie friendly. Commodore Scott welcomes them aboard, PBJ notices their thread and gives his opinion, people comment... what more should be done? Participation medals at the outset?

Sheesh, can we let the OP get offended first before we go off the rails on people? If I were a newbie, I'd see a PBJ comment as a badge of honor. And I've learned you just give it right back to him. Anyone who's been here a while knows that.

Meh, my rule is try to keep the snark out of the project threads and definitely stfu once a board is cut.  We all fall short from time to time.

He bought a kit so there's still time to intervene before he designs artwork.

I don't get why people think you're an ---uvula---. You're just PBJ. You are what you are. We need some flavor around here.
Edit: sorry, he didn't call you an ---uvula---, he called you a dick. Apologies all around.

Yots... Couldn't agree more! Cheese steak sandwiches ARE amazing!!! Wait, what are we talking about here???

Cheese steak!  :applaud:
