How do i fix a monitor that is blue?
« on: November 17, 2016, 06:50:19 pm »
Hello

I have a 1981 sega gremlin frogger arcade and the monitor is all blue. How can I fix this? I am not a tech guy so I am starting from scratch here...

Thank you

I would recommend checking for continuity with your rgb (red green blue) and sync video wires first with a multimeter. We'd be checking that the wires from the game board to the monitor have a good electrical connection. A cheap home depot/radioshack meter will be fine. If you can find the manufacturer/model of the monitor that should help us help you along (a manual can probably be found online.)

Do you mean that the screen is showing only a solid blue color? Or that gameplay appears and the graphics are only showing up as blue? Do you get sound from the game?

You should remove the pcb, rise the screen pot a little and turn the monitor on: what color is the image? If white, you have a game board issue and your monitor is good

There's always the possibility your monitor is fine but you have a fault with your Frogger PCB.

Seems that one the transistors on the neck board (blue color) is bad. You'll need to check it and if that's the case, it's better to change all three (RGB), but keep in mind that trying to repair a Crt monitor without experience is very dangerous !
