Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
« on: January 21, 2004, 03:38:38 pm »
anyone play/playing this game? I just picked it up the other day for PC and its great. the graphics are great and controls are easy and ive become instantly addicted. I went melee with my main guy since i want to use lightsabers later and hes kickin ass. If they made a Baldurs Gate type of game using this engine with a less linear story I think it would be huge.

so anyway who else is playing? and no spoilers in this thread =P

I got it for xbox when it came out and finished it on the light side.  I was gonna go through it again on dark side but then got sidetracked and vice city came out and well....that's a time sucker too.

KotoR is an EXCELLENT game, tho - very good graphics, sound, etc.  I especially love the sun effects on dantooine.  And the humor is superb:

"want me to kill the meatbags for you master??"
"I don't know how you meatbags can stand all that water in your system!  Doesn't it slosh around when you walk?" "now that you mention it..."

and my favorite:
"I did it all for the wookie."
"the wookie?"
"the wookie."

i just beat it for the xbox on the light side path 2 days ago.  I just started a new game on the dark side as well - but that will probably get delayed.  i need to play catch-up on a few other games i've been meaning to.

I love it... when I get a chance to play.

I started with a good character...

And now catching up with as evil as possible... I hate when I make a mistake... thinking I have to... and end up gaining some light points...

btw...

when I restarted... I went ONLY with swords... and MAN is it easier so far... I haven't gone all that far yet... but he way KICKS ass all around compared to the blaster character.  And I found out... Keep those vibra blades (enought for all)... They are better for anyone who has energy shields...

my guy is borderline darkside right now im not sure where i want to go i guess ill just see where i end up. ive been using 2 swords since the beginning of the game and my char is awesome. i was using 2 upgradable vibroblades that had every upgrade and i just switched one to the lightsaber.

does anyone know if theres a point to the mass amount of color crystals you find? i have like 10 red crystals do you need more then 1 for anything?

anyone think SW would be a good cabinet game? the only thing you need the mouse for is selecting stuff, and theres hotkeys for that. i think it would work pretty good, although I dont have a cab setup yet to try it. what do you guys think

btw, the colors... they are there so you can keep them seperated (to tell what the OTHER crystals it has).

but don't forget... vibraswords are BETTER then lightsabers when they have energy shields.  It took me forever to figure that one out.
