Aimtrak Light Gun Recoil Issues - Please Help!!
« on: November 16, 2016, 06:16:40 pm »
I'm having issues getting the recoil to work on my Aimtrak Light Gun.  I am using the Config utility v2.0; I have the latest firmware (9.18); I tested (with a test meter) both the power supply AC adapter (the one Andy from Ultimarc recommended on his website) and the 36V recoil power supply inside the gun.  I point the gun right at the screen and sensor bar, but yet nothing is registering.  I have a second gun also with recoil preinstalled and am having the same issue, so I imagine it's not the recoil or the gun. Hopefully it's just a simple step that I am missing.

I'm hoping someone has some ideas on how to get this working, because at this point, I am stuck.

Here is also a Youtube video to show you exactly what I've done so far to try and resolve this issue.  Thanks

Have you tried adjusting the recoil slider in the AimTrak utility?

I use the one gun and once in a while have recoil issues with the gun. When it happens - oddly - I have to unplug the USB connection (for the gun) and reconnect it.

This is the power supply that I purchased from Ebay that Andy recommended.

I did try adjusting the recoil strength in the config utility. Didn't make a difference. I've tried reconnecting/unplugging and replugging in multiple times.  No difference.

That should work, I assume the gun functions normally otherwise?

Ie aims and shoots?

If so think you need to go straight to Andy on this one.

hehe, well with the 1 handed voltage measuring in the vid there's no telling whats going on (no offense).  What I would do is ensure you are actually getting 36VDC at the recoil circuit itself when it's all hooked up like it would normally be. Measure with correct polarity at the V+ and V- inputs on the recoil board.

The gun functions perfectly otherwise.  Shoots and aims perfectly.  I love it.  Just can't get the recoil to recognize.  Andy got back to me and said It looked like I wasn't testing the 36v wires correctly with the test meter so I'm going to test that again.  Maybe post another video just to give people more visuals.  I'll have my wife record next time so I'm not testing with one hand :)  Thanks

I usually just use the regular USB 2.0 inputs from the computer (not from my USB HUB) for the Aimtrak guns, so i'll try that.  I guess I've tried everything else so it can't hurt at this point.  Thanks

I tested the power supply round connector with the testing meter and it looks like I had at least 36v.  Then I plugged in the gun and power supply and tested the white and black wires for the 36V and it looked like I had power.  So, i'm not sure what to do at this point.  I've tried recalibrating, plugging in and unplugging everything multiple times. I have the most current firmware.  I am still stuck and out of ideas.  Help please! See video link below for more info.

I think you should only have the 36V on the noid when its supposed to be pulling in?

Sorry not sure what else to suggest on this one.

Hello
First of all, sorry for my English, I am French (thanks Google Translate!).
Dgrace, I think I encounter the same problem as you.
I bought the recoil kit Aimtrak as well as the same power supply that was advised on the manual to upgrader my gun bought from the same shop in 2011 (my firmware is 9.17)
At home also, the recoil does not work correctly: when I plug it and I shoot for the first time it works  :) against the second attempt nothing happens ...
If I wait a few minutes and I start again, the first shot works but the following not.
I think the problem could come from the power supply, may be a problem with the amperage (3A may be not enough) because it looks like the power "tires" after the first shot and that " It needs to be recharged to re-run.
I sent an email to Andy of Ultimark in case he's already encountered this worry.
I'll let you know if I'm making any progress  ;)
