Scan Converter VS Hardware Stretching
« on: January 20, 2004, 08:03:07 pm »
I want to know what you guys think about this:

If I want to output a 336x240 (15Khz) on a 25Khz monitor (512x384) I should either use advancemame with hardware streching or use a scan converter (do I have any other option ?)

So my question is :
Which one looks better ?
Did someone in this forum tried both ?

25kHz monitors are a tough sort.  They're very hard to configure for general MAMEing. But to answer your question, both methods stretch the image, so the only difference lies in which one stretches the images best.  As to this, I can't really tell you, as I don't know.  I can only tell you that AdvanceMAME is pretty dang good at stretching low res images.

I would go with AdvMAME.  I believe unless you get a top quality (expensive) scan converter you will probably be disappointed by the quality.
