My mame.ini file is set to “video ddraw”.
Heres my dilemma:
With Hardware Acceleration ON:
HyperSpin crashes at Startup (because of Windows XP display hardware acceleration being ON)…
…but Mame runs games correctly by itself (running "mame.exe file alone) at native resolutions (Wow, looks awesome!)
…and RocketLauncherUI will launch Mame and games correctly at native resolutions
With Hardware Acceleration OFF:
Hyperspin will go to main menu for selecting games/emulators without crashing…
…and Mame runs games correctly by itself (most likely not at the native resolution since Hardware Acceleration (ie: DirectDraw) is turned off). Not cool, but fine for now, whatever.
…but RocketLauncherUI will NOT launch Mame – this is my major issue at the moment.
QUESTION: Why will RocketLauncherUI NOT launch Mame with Windows Display Hardware Acceleration settings turned OFF if Mame, by itself, WILL launch with hardware acceleration off? Does RocketLauncherUI have a built in setting that’s trying to force Mame to start with Direct Draw, and won’t let Mame start through RLUI without DDraw? I would think if Mame will start by itself without hardware acceleration then RocketLauncherUI starting Mame without hardware acceleration shouldn’t be any different. Hope this makes sense.
My ultimate goal is to get Hyperspin to launch Mame without crashing at startup. It wont work with hardware acceleration turned on – I’ve tried everything. But, with hardware acceleration off, if I can get RocketLauncherUI to start Mame then I will have all 3 programs functioning properly together.
