The more I look at marquees, the more I feel like it's not missing anything...lol. Some of the most iconic marquess have even less..lol.

Also, a question, I have it set for 300PPI, will that translate well to printing? I know everyone says DPI, but I don't seem to have a setting for that in my Photoshop.

PPI (pixels per inch) and DPI (dots per inch) are pretty much the same thing - just one (pixels) is for monitors or displays which show images as pixels and the other is for printing which shows things as dots on paper.

So will this look like crap when printed?

A 300 PPI image printed at 300 DPI should look as good as it does on the screen -- no resizing artifacts.   ;D

Less stripes for me to out of those.

As a thought though have you tried putting in a ring and just flag up the ring leaving the space around it blank?

I dont like your font or color choice, mix it up a bit.  I'd also drop the fisherman's suplex guys and just leave the classic 80s drop kick, but lose the drop shadow.  A sloppy example is attached, I was movin quick with my clone stamp and pencil tools since I didnt have the source files.

Any other name suggestions?

I was going to name it SlamFest, but I thought that sounded a bit too......dirty...lol

I went through the gammit thinking of wrestling related names that don't end in "cade", though Wrestlecade sounded cool....

This will be a dedicated wrestling cabinet with WWF Superstars, Wrestlefest, WrestleMania, Saturday Night Slam Masters, ProWrestling, FirePro, and maybe a few others. No N64 titles though or anything like that. I have been a wrestling fan since I can remember, and I was lucky enough to grow up in the 80s, and then 90s era when wrestling was at it's best, but I don't want to really add any actual wrestlers to it, but thinking of making some "blank generic" wrestlers with likenesses for the side art/CP.

I agree with Malenko about the font. If you want to stick with your original font and color, I would add a white stroke around the lettering. That black and dark blue just doesn't sit right.

And no, Wrestlecade does not sound cool. :-)

Yea, I saw that logo, and Taito's Champion Wrestler(which I thought of doctoring) marquees when searching for wrestling art. Problem with those is I would be using existing cabinet artwork that already exists for a custom cabinet. Trying to come up with my own theme on this one.

Was hoping to do a tangerine color cabinet in true 80s style, but now leaning more towards the "Murica color scheme. This one is starting to grow on me. I was trying to get some stars in the "Squared" part, but didn't have much luck. The "star studded" font I found somehow squished the Q and U together making it unreadable.

Thoughts?

I like that better :)

But I think you. Need to fill in the "squared" with something to make it pop out.

Maybe texture it with a canvas effect or as you say stars?

I like that a lot better than your previous ones, and better than my mock up too.

I dont know what version of photoshop you're on, so this suggestion but be harder to do on an older version. Add another stroke of the red to the inside of "SQUARED". Textures and all that look neat but arent very 90s wrestling retro. You could also recolor the guys to match existing wrestlers, the guy drop kicking could be Mr.Perfect , and the guy receiving the drop kick could be redone to match Rick Flair (wooooooooooooooooooo) or whomever you like.

Yea, no textures going on this one. Straight, clean, 80s art for sure. I think I have PS7 or 8, and am pretty sure I can do the interior line. If not, I have some ideas to get one in there.

Great ideas Malenko, I was messing around with changing their boots and such as the dropkicking wrestler had red boots that got lost in the bars. Mr Perfect wore a singlet, so not sure how well that would look seeing as the drop kicker has tights, but I get your thinking. Ric Flair is possible though. Light blue trunks and boots with platinum blonde hair FTW!

Now, for the CP, how can I get a template for the machine I want to build? I will be making a copy of this Venture cabinet, and can only find the side panel templates so far:

Should I just wait to get the sides put together and then make a template off the CP when I build it? Probably better idea.

That "squared" font looks a bit "washed out" to me. How about adding a thin inside line ?

It's just a subtle difference, but it makes the text look a bit sharper.

Wow, managed to impress PBJ AND Yots?

Thanks guys, that means it doesn't suck...lol. I've done a bit of touch up here and there, but won't bother with another re-post.

I plan on having a belt of some type in the side art, but actually gotta start the cab before the side art to gain a good idea of size. Not going full size side art.

Yamatetsu, I see what you have there, don't think it makes that much of a difference, but I'll try that as well.

Yea, I'm calling this part done. Stay tuned for CP and Side art updates as I progress.

Thanks for all who offered input. Being this my first marquee fully designed by me (my Punisher one was done by a friend), it was good to hear feedback. I did not add another inside line, as I feel it really didn't add much. I have touched up "Flair's" trunks to be more baby blue, and fixed a few little colors here and there on his skin (his arm and torso were too white), and fixed some of the tips on the brown hair where yellow was still showing through.

Thanks again!

Yes, yes, I know...lol

I am just getting back to work after being on LOA since July, so waiting for a couple paychecks to come in before I splurge. Need a new router first. Already lined up a free PC, and have a CRT that I am using.

Also still undecided on the cabinet style. I thought I had one chosen, but now considering another. I'll start a proper Project Announcement thread when I get underway. Winter is coming
