MAMEWah: Can't play MP3's while browsing. HELP!!!

I cant figure this out, and it is driving me nuts.  Here is the snippet from my config file:

;AUDIO OPTIONS
Sound / Music Volume (%) = 100
Music Path = C:\MAMEWAH\MUSIC
Play Music While Browsing = True
Play Music During Screen-Saver = True

I have the folder as specified above.  The file I renamed to be "browse.mp3", thinking that there may be a DOS-like 8.3 filename limitation.  That's not it.

I have had problems before with stuff like this, and turned out it was the track tag that was screwing me up.  Removed the track tag, still no luck.

What's my problem?  How are you guys doing it?   ARRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!   FYI...it is a normal (no VBR) mp3 at 192kbps.  It plays fine in Musicmatch, it plays fine in Windows Media player, just cant get it to work with MAMEWah.

I am running XP with all the service packs, updates, and patches.  My machine is Athlon 2400+, Asus mobo, 1 gig PC2700 RAM.  Musicmatch runs great, WMP9 runs great, so I know its not my soundcard or this MP3 being junk.

Any help would be appreciated,

Just to confirm, you have a file browse.mp3 within c:\mamewah\music?  (Just wanted to check your FILE isn't called 'music')...

Yes, the folder is called MUSIC......the fulll path is C:\MAMEWAH\MUSIC

Inside that folder I have a file called  "browse.mp3"

Update:  This morning I thought of two things:
1) WMP9 is not my default player for MP3 (I prefer Musicmatch).  I went into WMP9 and made it my default player associated with MP3 files.  Clicked on that file (C:\MAMEWAH\MUSIC\browse.mp3) and it launched WMP and started playing.  Launched MAMEWah, and still no MP3 in the background.

2) Thought maybe a corrupt or funky MP3, so I copied a larger .wav file ( I think I used WinXP_startup.wav) into that music folder.  Renamed it browse2.wav (just to eliminate the chance of 8.3 limitations), and launched MameWah.  Still no music at all.

Lemme know if you guys have any other suggestions.

Have you tried placing more than one file in the folder, i had a problem like this a good few versions back and having a few mp3s in the folder did the trick.
