Generic replacement chassis..do these work?!

I have two monitors that need replacement chassis or have problems that I have been unable to diagnose. I can get a working arcade machine at the auction for usually $150 and then take the monitor out of it. But then you have the hastles assosiated. These people want $100 for a 25" chassis that they say will work with any monitor. Do they work? Anyone bought one?

Yes, they work quite well if your tube happens to be "compatible".

The 8liners chassis should work ok with your tube & yoke. The W-G k7000 series has the low impedance vertical yoke (13 ohms on the yellow and green wires). The 25" picture tube always uses a 10 pin neckboard.

How about what one for a QNIX board with 25" phillips tube? Do you know? Thanks!!
Any know possible problems with the 8liners board and the wells gardner 25" monitor? Im trying to weigh all factors.....
If you could get a whole working cabinet at the auction for $150 would you still spend 100$ for a 8liner board? Next auction is 2months away and I could very well end up with another monitor that works for a few days then dies.
I have two monitors with boards I cant get working and cant decide to repair or junk.

Out of all the monitors I've repaired, I have never come across a QNIX brand. Follow the steps as outlined in the 8liners webpage and measure the resistance of the vertical yoke winding. I'm sure that 25" tube uses a 10 pin pix tube socket on the neckboard. If you've read all the info on this board about the 8liners replacement chassis and possible pincushion problems and you're willing to do a little work, then I'd say (in my opinion) to order the 8liners chassis. You'd have a brand new chassis with a warranty and another monitor will have been brought back from the dead. Plus you could sell your old chassis on ebay to recover some money spent buying the 8liners chassis.

There is an auction near here this weekend where I hope to get another working 25" tube and chassis--if I do, I'll pass on the extra flyback for the K7000 (the one with the extra cylinder attached to it) for a very modest fee  That was your dead part right?

I am seriously considering getting one of these chassis if I can find a tube locally.  If not I guess one of 8liners refurb CRT + chassis is in my future since everyone locally wants an arm and a leg for a 25" crt.

I just called a couple days ago a local tv repair shop. I asked if they had any tubes for sale. They asked for sale?! We have about half a dozen out back you can have. I went there and they have a huge trashpile of tubes. Most broken but I found two good 25" tubes. They had one or two scratches on the screen and I dont know yet if they are compatible with the 8liners chassis yet. But Im going to keep checking for more tubes. Just call around to TV repair mom and pop stores. You might hit the jackpot.

You might also get some large, heavy, difficult to discard junk .

It might be a good idea to pay an extra $10 (or whatever) and have it hooked to a CRT analyzer before you put it in your car.  After all, there might be a reason they are laying around in a pile .

Just a thought.

I was trying to be optimistic. If it dont work take it back and throw it in their junkpile. No loss except time. I have more time than money. However, Every one I have gotten works. But if someone wants to pay money for one that is fine. I was more than willing to pay $20 each for them but to me free is better even if you would have to deal with an occasional dead one.
