Hi folks! I'm kinda at my wits end here. I found a NOS motherboard and Celeron D processor in my closet, so I thought I'd build an emulation station out of it.
For the past 2 days, I've tried everything I can think of, but not getting very far in getting it moving. No dice. I'm not sure if it's a BIOS setting or what, as I've tried everything I can think of including changing bios setting and updating the Bios. The board is a Jetway PT88AS from roughly 2004, with a Celeron D 2.33Ghz processor and dual 512m ddr400 ram, known good 450w PSU, no hard drive connected.
Using the 2016 Live CD, I get to the LunixISO screen, then it reboots. Continuously. (Disc was overburned with Alcohol 120)
Using the 2013 Live CD, I get the same thing. (Discs were burned with Nero and Alcohol, same result)
Using Hiren's Boot CD 8.1, everything works fine on that package. (Alcohol burn)
Using Knoppix 9, it gets to the "enter to boot" slide, loads two items then reboots. Continuously. (alcohol burn-- disc tested fine on other PCs)
So it's not limited to just GrooveAracde, but does anyone have any clue as to what's happening or why? The motherboard does NOT allow for USB boot, so this is all being done via CD's on a IDE DVD-ROM drive. Thanks for any input, advice or fixes! This has turned into a puzzle that I'm having a heckuva time solving on my own!
