Extracting files from Golden Tee ROMs
« on: July 06, 2016, 11:08:52 pm »
I have a rather unusual question (or so it seems because I can't find the answer anywhere else).

I have the ROMs for the Golden Tee 3D Golf series and I was wondering how I could open and extract anything from the games' PROM or GRM2 files.

I am trying to do some customization for the in game graphics and whatnot.  Not sure if that's possible without the programs used to originally build those files at Incredible Technologies, though.

Thanks in advance!

not likely. the rom data was all converted from its original code when it was made (where you might be able to modify it).... to straight up machine code that the board used.

without source code...it would be like a needle in a haystack finding what you needed to change, then you'd have to write up a new code and convert it and fix all the checks.

you'd have better luck with the more modern golden tee games (99? 2000? and up) where the info is stored in a linux partition on a harddrive as actual files and not just machine code.

short answer is no
the reasons are 10 fold
but the least of the problem is the fact not all of the code is in the rom's
it is shared and stored with a few in house ic's
