Monitor flashes white in certain situations

I have a Neo Geo 4 slot cabinet with a 25 inch monitor (don't know the make off the top of my head) when playing certain games, different situations in the game cause the screen to flash white for a second and go back to normal. The best example I have is Metal Slug, pick up a shot gun and every time you fire the screen will flash. This happens at other times too, but this is the easiest to reproduce. The monitor works fine otherwise, and has a good picture, but I am not sure where to begin looking for the issue.
