Famiclones also tend to have varying degrees of accuracy - you're likely in for some sound channel mixing being off and games such as castlevania 3 not working depending on the clone.

That said, they are excellent for projects that need a small footprint.

I would be into it if they gave us a video option besides composite.  Fro whatever reason the NES produces a horrid av-out on modern tvs.

Why are the controllers always garbage? Every time I see these "clones" pop up, they always bundle ugly controllers with mushy looking d-pads. I'm sure they could make the price even less if they just withheld the controllers from the bundle.

However, I love the idea of not hacking apart a perfectly good NES for a custom project. All depends on whether the system is accurate or not.

1 - a game anyone cares about (nobody does)
2 - proof that there are "widespread issues" with the FOACs
3 - some unknown profound truth of which we were all previously unaware

You need to revise #1.  Everyone likes Castlevania 3.... it's a good game.  Not as good as Super Castlevania IV, the best Castlevania ever... but it's still pretty good.

It equates to about $29. But the trick is getting one in the US without shipping cost exceeding the price of the actual item itself.

Sorry to keep that notion going but...I like the game and it was the most common reference I could give. There are other games that are messed up on some famicom clones vs others - I think it was the retro duo that could play cv3 alright but it might have needed a trace restored. Rad Racer, Punchout are an unplayable mess on my old 'powerplayer' clone and the sound on both Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. is super balls too.

I'm sure there are good clones out there depending on how critical you are and by all means buy what you enjoy! I just thought people should look into it before dropping the cash on this one. I bought the power player on a whim after years of owning a toaster nes and I was pretty disappointed, I didn't know about any issues.
