CNC File to Share?
« on: April 11, 2016, 02:45:48 pm »
Hi Everyone!  I'm trying to finish up my Megacade, and the main part left is the woodworking.  I'd like to use CNC for all parts to make it (semi) professional.  I've already mapped out the sides using Flynn's Overambitious build, but I'm hoping someone has a starting point that I can use for the other pieces (not including the control panel...I got that completed).  For example, the back, kickstand etc.

Thank you!!

Did you try asking Chance for those dimensions first before reaching out to the forum, since your mimicking his build.

He'd know better than anyone else.

Also, I wouldn't ask for a CNC file, as folks may use different software and the there are tons of cam files based on the type of CNC machine that will do the work.

I'd get the dimensions, draw it up in cad or illustrator and then take that to a cnc service provider, they will take that and convert it into the necessary cam files for you at a cost.

Not sure what a kickstand is, but i'm assuming you mean the front panel, where the kickplate goes.  Chance would have all of that info if he so chooses to release it.

I think Chance just got the sides done by a CNC.  I think any starting point should work then I can edit from there.

the starting point would be the dimensions, which if your starting point is his build would come from him.

If you want blind help, then you need to provide some additional info.

Total width of cab, total height of cab, TV size, etc.

Chance is pretty responsive, just send him a PM.

^THIS -- or alternatively PM Haruman since in the Flyn's thread he mentions :

Again, I'm pretty sure the CAD work was the sides only.  I don't think anyone's components would have the same exact dimensions as mine but I can rescale.  It shouldnt be much more work to start from scratch if nothing is available since all the pieces are rectangles.

My CP design is based on Flynns, where am also listing up the joysticks as he did, and the sides are from his CAD file (adjusted for my size monitor ) but it isn't a clone,

When I complete it and post the finished work it'll look much different, and of course have some similarities. ;)

Ok so your refusing to go and get dimensions but you want someone to give you CNC files as a starting point knowing it won't match up with your current build idea in your head.

What baffles me is you have designed the CP, but you cant design the front and back its just 2 triangles as you have stated.  I would create a cardboard mockup of your build or use sketchup.  Your not making alot of sense, you've cloned Chances profile but your saying its not a clone but give me a starting point for my own custom dimensions.  (I don't think anyone's components would have the same exact dimensions as mine but I can rescale.)
