Hi everyone,
I'm trying to build my first MAME cabinet and I'm very new to all of this and to this forum. I've searched and searched and tried to solve this issue without any help, but I'm not making progress. So here goes:
I bought a Gauntlet: Dark Legacy cabinet. It worked just fine. I bought a J-PAC, MiniPAC, and ArcadeVGA 5000 card. The miniPAC isn't hooked up yet. Figured I'd wait until the video is working right before I deal with setting up Player 3 and 4. I have the J-PAC hooked up and the ArcadeVGA 5000 card installed in a Windows XP machine. I have a second monitor hooked up as well for troubleshooting purposes.
Right now, I can run a ROM in MAME and it shows up on the secondary screen fine and the Player 1 and 2 controls are working through the J-PAC, but the cabinet monitor is repeating its picture two and a half times over. I've spend hours and hours messing with the pots and the this is the best I can get the picture (not counting color or brightness which I'm not worried about at the moment).
I'm using QuickRes on the software side and have tried every available resolution (all of which are 32 bit, which surprised me). I've tried the Catalyst control panel to get it to 16 bit color just to see, but it makes no difference.
I don't know the monitor type, but I've included pictures. I see a Hitachi label, but I assume that's just the chassis. I see a generic looking sticker that says WG 1687233. I don't know if that actually means it's Wells Gardner or if the WG is just a coincidence. I've Googled the heck out of that number and I get nothing and the sticker it was on doesn't look very official.
Anyhow, here are some pictures and I'm happy to provide more on request.
Thanks in advance!
TL;DR:
1. Bought Gauntlet: Dark Legacy
2. Cabinet worked fine
3. Tried setting for MAME via J-PAC and an XP machine running an ArcadeVGA 5000
4. Player 1 and 2 controls work as does a secondary LCD, but arcade monitor has double vision, or double and a half.
