Suggestions on my cpo and/or marquee

Goodday,

after and reading up on stuff I have done some work on a cpo and marquee with GIMP. Lets start out I am a noob at art, never done it before but like putting some time in it. Been working on my arcade cabinet for some time and I really need to make a choice on the art side.

The theme is Zelda, set the size to 34inch wide and about 11 inch high. 300 dpi as suggested. Took me about 10 hours to make these (beginner as stated )

Don't mind the letters in the lower right, they still need to be taken care of.

I also like to put in buttonart, just like circles with some kind of colour but can't find any art for those (or I am just looking at the wrong place).
At the moment I have Classic Concave buttons and 2 IL Competition controllers.

Any tips are welcome.

First of all, I'm impressed with what you made. And all this in 10 hours isn't that bad. You must have had good images to start with, or did you made this from scratch?

But since you ask, there are some remarks.
For the CPO you want to have your design adjusted to layout of the joysticks and buttons. Otherwise you may end up with a troll with a joydick and elf's with button heads.

On the marquee, the text "THE LEGEND OF" isn't as clear and sharp as it should be. And the edges of the big sword in the middle are jagged.

I don't like it, but the point I want to make is that if you're happy with something for you, then that's all that matters.

Looks great for just starting, It took me longer than 10 hrs to do mine
I would second checking your control layout, the only thing to me is the colors, so much blue in the CP and all brown in the Marque

Thanks all, some useful stuff. Didn't really look at the colour difference between the two but you are right.

Control layout is true but haven't been able to scale a control layout to fit it....just work in progress I guess. This isn't the final draft.

The images I just found through google, just ad bigger than 8MP and keep browsing. Also mainly used png since I saw those we're the transparent ones. I guess it can be done with jpegs but as a  noob on art I changed colours when I made them fit on the underlaying pictures.

The tekst in the marquee and sword are indeed 4MP, couldn't find them any bigger but true. Going to look into that.

@Orangpink: thanks for the honesty and true, it's what I like. I see a lot of people making the greatest things but you should make what you like yourself so point taken

Just hard to find basic art to work on or at printers. They have a lot of "MAME" art but they are so basic and prices are to high to let it be made by someone else although I know how much goes into it is not meant in a bad way (missing some English words/grammer here but I hope you get the point).

If you like I can help you with your design. I can scale your controle panel to the right size if you provide dimensions. Also If you give me an idea about your joystick and button art I can make something up.
If you provide me the picture of the sword I can clean that up as well.
