Are you making a replica of the original "class of '81" cab (or at least the marquee in this case)? It sure looks similar, but you made some tiny changes? For instance, isn't the Namco logo red in the original?

It looks like you "broke" the ribbon around the Galaga logo. The point on the ribbon left to the "G" is cut off. Are the other ends of the ribbon supposed to be cut off like you did?

What kind of comments are you looking for btw?

*steps on soapbox and begins rant*
BTW, I went to see a "class of 81" cabinet so I could take some pictures to use to complete my Galaga artwork. I was appalled how bad this 'class of 81' cabinet looked. Especially the controlpanel overlay was a disgrace. The print (not silkscreened!) is rastered with a very coarse grain. It looked like the stuff they make huge billboards with. I didn't like the fuzzy 25" monitor either (way too big). You're indeed much better of making on of these things yourself.

Thanks for the feedback, this is exactly what I wanted.  I haven't been able to find a decent marquee to base this off of, so I just thought I'd try to make my own as close as I can to the original.  Thanks again.  I'm going back to work.  :)

Oh, now I feel sorry that I forgot to take a picture of the marquee. To be honest I felt kind of foolish taking pictures of an arcade cabinet with people playing games all around me :o Besides, I was so appalled by the poor quality of the control panel that I lost my appetite for taking pictures of it. I ended up mostly taking pictures of the Galaga sideart.

If you worked without an example than I'm amazed you got it to look so similar (allthough I also don't have a proper image to compare it to myself). Even the pictures on the Namco site are poor quality.

:-\ -  well I did change the namco text to white, but I have still been having trouble getting the galaga swoop thing to look like the original.  If you want a copy of the one I have done with the white text, then I can send that to you.  I will have to try and send it tomorrow, since it's on my PC at work, and I didn't go in today.

BTW, what are the measurments of the marquee so I can makesure I sized it up right.

Thanks.

Good on ya for making your own Class of 81 cabinet and marquee.  I have to say though, the first time I saw that cabinet or even pictures of it, I thought the artwork was a bit uninspired.  Mind you, I am not slamming you at all, because you didn't create the artwork for the cab of course.  Since you are making the cab from scratch, I would suggest being a little more creative than namco was.  For gOD's sake, all the did was resize two marquees and slap it on to one marquee.

So what I am suggesting is to play around with it a bit more.  That is unless you plan on selling this as a faithful replica, then, you might want to be as accurate as possible.

just my opinion is all.
