I have some bad chuff turned into good turned into bad back into good.
The bad: I thought I killed my crt monitor at almost 2:00am in my mame cabinet last night doing some maintenance and moving some cables around before bed with the back panel off - saw a blue spark and the monitor turned off. Immediately turned off the power strip. I thought I was done and headed to bed and now this comes up

Checked around - turns out a disconnected spade connector from the original jamma power supply wiring shorted out to ground. I *had* electrical tape on it but the crap must have slid off. Checked my fuses, one had blown. Breathe deeply, replace the fuse and plug it in to a different outlet (just to be sure that wasn't an issue.) it turns on...and seems to work just fine for a good 5 minutes!
Great right? So I unplug it and plug it back into the original power strip and...nothing. I check my second fuse. Also apparently toast now. I should have figured both fuses probably got damaged from that initial shock. Still trying to keep cool, I replaced that one too. Both look like very old fuses fwiw.
Plug it in...monitor hums and blinks on...the image is coming inbut now I have a rolling screen in every possible direction...son of a

I'm pulling my hair out at this point, I really think I severely damaged the monitor.
BUT...taking a look in the morning (after begrudgingly giving up for the night) turns out when I was climbing behind my open cab and changing the outlets/cords around I bumped a switch I installed on my vga cable for choosing the sync line to my 'off' position...flipped it and...

It's back in action. What a relief!
So that's my good chuff for today. Lesson learned - going to zip-tie/secure my wiring before making more changes.
