Donkey Kong Cabaret Scratch Build
« on: February 22, 2016, 11:24:38 am »

This is something I've been working on for a few weeks on and off.

As if its not obvious I have zero woodworking experience. First scratch build.

I've taken a few creative liberties. Particularly using an LCD and making the cp and bezel one piece instead of two.

Also, it's blue.

I'll post some more photos after work.

things left to do:

plexi for screen/cp
coin door
cut speaker slots.
side art
attach black platform to bottom.

I just took the dimensions from the first post on that page. I wasn't trying to be 100 percent accurate given the only tools at my disposal are a harbor freight jigsaw and sander. This is an exercise in winging it. Haha.

Got a smoked-clear plexi sandwich for the artwork. Also got a marquee printed. You can really see all of the build imperfections in these photos. I'm going to take everything I learned building this one and build another one of much better quality.

Very good job!

I've built a few Donkey Kongs and one of the things I did was to use some paintable caulk to seal the coin door area. That way any inaccuracies in the cut are sealed and painted.
