Pink Centipede...
« on: January 13, 2004, 12:13:06 am »
Has anyone seen side art for Centipede where the body of the centipede is pink/purple rather then yellow?  Like this:

http://www.spamrevenge.com/pics/centeuro.jpg

It is apparantely from a Euro version of the game, KLOV mentions different color outlines for the art (yellow, blue, purple) but nothing about the body.

Anyone know?  Basically the euro image above has pink where yellow is on the normal one (even in the starbursts).

Yes - from what I have seen, that is the european (made in Ireland) version.  Phoenix Arcade used to carry reproduction sideart for it.

Luckily the Centipede-cabs in germany (at least the ones I saw) were not with this sideart. Personally I think it's pretty ugly - they just wanted to lower down production costs for the sideart I guess, as it has less colors in it.

Deleting the yellow color has been a very common cost-cuttin measure in printing for years. Some comic books in the 70's quit using yellow, it's pretty weird.
