PC to PVM - Black strip in middle of screen

I recently picked up a small Sony PVM (1342Q) and am trying to make it work with my PC. I have it hooked it up to my video card (a 750ti) via a VGA to DVI adapter that then connects to a VGA to  RGBHV cable.

I can see my image onscreen but the left half of the image is far right and the right half of the image is far left with sizable black stripe in the middle. Adjusting horizontal/vertical hold (or any of the other monitor adjustments) doesn't fix the issue. I get a full video image if I hook it up to a console via composite video so I know the monitor is functional.

Appreciate any help or info on what my problem might be. I have a feeling it's something obvious I'm overlooking.

Sounds like you have a 31kHz VGA signal on a 15kHz monitor.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think it's 31kHz, it has a 9 pin VGA connector in the back and I thought VGA was 31kHz?

I thought I had it figured out, my VGA to BNC connector was BNC-5 instead of BNC-4 so there were 2 sync connectorts instead of one. A new BNC-4 cable didn't fix it though. I've also tried to going through the VGA connection with a 15 pin to 9 pin VGA converter. Probably doesn't help that the vid card is DVI so I also have a DVI to VGA converter on that. I can basically see the image but the vertical hold is really touchy and the image is offset horizontally with a large black vertical strip (like 2" wide) in the middle).

That reads like it IS a 15kHz monitor.

It has both analog and digital RGB (= CGA) but no VGA.

That must've been it, I hooked up a card running groovymame and output a 15kHz signal and it works. For some reason I was sure it could take a 31kHz VGA signal. The vertical hold is really touchy and starts to slowly scroll after awhile (even after I have it stabilized) but I do get a full screen picture at least. Pretty sure that must be a monitor issue and nothing to do with the video signal though. I may have to crack open the case and see if there are any internal adjustments.
