TV getting dark spots?
« on: January 12, 2004, 03:14:23 pm »
I just got the TV for my cab a week ago, and assembled the cab about 3 days ago, and already I'm starting to see discolouration in the screen. On the right there is this red smudge (dark spot). I saw it there yesterday but never thought anything of it (it was barely visible at the time) and now it's noticibly darker.

I turned the TV off, and back on, and it's still there. It's not getting hot (tons of ventillation, and it's a chilly basement), but there is my computer power supply about a foot underneith it. Could that be it?

Hopefully I can fix this or prevent it any further (I'll leave it off for now). All suggestions are helpful :)

Get a manual degaussing coil and degauss the face of the picture tube.

Ken I've been wondering where to get such an item. I have seen this problem from time to time where there are color blotches on the screen and leaving the monitor powered off does not fix them. Usually happens in the corners and I just have to deal with them and they dont go away on their own. Can you point me and gprime where to buy a manual degause? thanks again!

You can also use an electric power driver I've heard.
