Crt ranges for EDTV 480p and HD 720p?
« on: January 04, 2016, 03:30:57 pm »
Looking through the monitor.ini file, I can see some modiles related to 720p, 480p etc.  But these seem to be for computer mointors.

In addition to NTSC, and PAL, resolutions, my BVM supports the EDTV 480p and HD 720p standard "televison broadcast" timings, not the multisync computer kind.

The thing is...  I can't figure out what these two crt ranges would look like.

There is information out there on 480p and 720p broadcast modelines, but I don't know how to translate that to the format of a crt_range.

If anyone knows what those two broadcast crt_ranges should look like, I would be much obliged.

I understand it's probably a rare use case to have 480p and 720p CRT, but, my monitor does it and I would certainly like to use it for the higher res games.  I've hacked together 480p, 720p resolutions that sort of work, but I have no idea what the ranges should "really" be.

Any help?

In the new VMMaker's monitor tab, you'll see a timing chart for each range. Most quality monitor manuals have timing charts for their supported modes. They look just like the timing chart in VMMaker, so it's not a very difficult task to port the values, once you notice the correspondence.
