NeoGeo Game List in Mamewah?
« on: January 11, 2004, 09:21:45 pm »
I have Mame v0.66 setup fine in Mamewah and I use catver.ini to get filters for my custom lists.  I was wondering how I can generate a list of just NeoGeo games or perhaps separate out all the neogeo roms from my rom directory so I can list them as a separate game list in Mamewah?

Using the catver, you should sort by the neogeo bios.

Actually I use the 'BIOS Filters' within MAMEWAH :)

I also use these filters to remove Playchoice 10 games and a few others...

This is the way i use too, but i use mame twice , one as emulator 1 and the other as emulator 5 and filter 5 to just show neogeo roms so i can use a neogeo skin, i  suppose this way you could create playchoice and other skins too.

Yeah that is what I do and I meant to say as well.  I just forgot to include the magical word mamewah.  It does the bios filtering through the catver, right?

If you use ClrMAME you can separate your BIOS sets really easily.

First, create an empty directory.  Name it 'Neo Geo' or something.

Select your .dat file (which you create from the commandline: 'mame -listinfo > mame66.dat') and go to 'Scanner'.  There is a 'Systems' button there.  Once you push it there will be separate directories for each BIOS type.  Double click the one for Neo Geo and put the path in for the directory you just created.

Back out by clicking the 'x' in the corner, and do it again for the next window so you're back at the main menu.  Select 'Rebuilder.'

Make your source your main ROMs folder and for destination click the box for SystemDefaut Paths.  Smack the rebuild button.  In a little bit you will have nothing in your Neo Geo directory except the Neo Geo ROMs.  You can even click the 'remove rebuilt sourcefiles' if you don't want double ROMs.

You can do this for all your sets.  I keep mine in their respective folders.  Makes it easier, I think.

Um, no...the BIOS filter stuff comes straight from mame -listinfo, only category filters come from catver :)
