Any reason not to go to Windows 10 at this point?
« on: January 01, 2016, 07:53:31 pm »
So the Crt emudriver beta is working great for me.  Is there any reason not to go to Windows 10 now?

I guess I'm not sure what the procedure is for crt emudriver under windows 10.  Is there something special you need to do?  I thought I read there was some issue with automatic updates overwriting the emudriver.

Is there anything different about enable test mode?

Windows 10 has a tendency to delete some random software during Windows Updates.

I ended up losing CPU-Z and Speccy in one a month ago. I've heard some have lost Adobe CC which is inexplicable to me.

If I was going to use 7 8 or 10 in my cab, I would disable auto update. I assume win10 forces updates but if you block it from going out to Microsoft for updates you should be good, no?

It looks like it's causing a BSOD in Windows 10:

Considering we're already hacking the bios with Atom-15, would it be possible to adjust something else so that windows 10 doesn't actually recognise the card but your drivers do? Thereby windows would never try to update the drivers?

Is there any performance gains (or anything) to be had in 7,8 or 10 over XP 64

a problem with using XP is, you have to use older hardware (mainboard, cpu, etc) - you cannot use new hardware with XP because there will be no drivers available for getting your new hardware to work with 'ancient' XP.

Yes, there is - G3258 4,2 GHz on XP x64 passmark score is about 2370, on 7 x64 it's more than 2500 points. From my tests also games in mame are little bit faster.

Besides it's easier to buy cheap windows 7 x64 than windows 10 x64 not too mention problems with windows 10 right now.
