need help with monitor
« on: January 11, 2004, 07:27:04 pm »
Hi,
I have big problems with my monitor. It's a Hantarex MTC900. It works perfectly with the originally installed PCB, but when I connect my PC (with an ATI Rage Pro II) the picture is terrible. I tried arcmon.sys with ArcadeOS but the screen is flickering an somtimes jumping.
The configuration with AdvMenu/AdvMame is nearly impossible.

Mostly the screen looks like this:

Even after playing around with the monitor settings the picture has a "rainbow-effect" on the left side

and the vertical lines are dancing:

Somtimes it happes, that just changing the bgcolor makes the screen looking like the first picture.
To make it short: I have a very unstably picture - is there a way to fix it?

The rainbow effect looks like you have a magnet too close to that side of the screen--speakers nearby?  As far as the picture goes, I couldn't get a decent picture from advmame until I went to the trident t64--after that setup was a breeze.  Some video cards just don't support 15Khz monitors.  My first card was an ATI rage3d and it wouldn't display anything.  After using advmame and the trident for 2 years, I say, buy the arcadevga and be done with it--no fuss no muss.  Just my $.02
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...
