WG d9200 adjust

Hello all, just a quick question on a possible adjustment on the WG d9200 flat screen monitor, the top and bottom of the screen is not perfectly straight, it's hard to explain but it waves slightly inward on the left and right corners and slightly outward in the middle of the screen, this is mirrored for the top and bottom. I don't know what the technical explanation, but is this adjustable to straighten out?Thanks

That doesn't seem to get it. Exactly what pincushion does to the sides is what I need to adjust top and bottom.

do you mean you have pincushion on the vertical?
do you have a photo of the problem?

So at the top and bottom of my screen if you are looking directly at the monitor I have a slight pincushion effect. However when I adjust the "pincushion" or "trapezoid" via the monitor menu controls it only effects the left and right sides not the top and bottom. Does this make sense? I could post a pic but I'm not at home right now.

A "vertical pincoushion" is not common. A pic would help.

Did you eventually tuned the vertical size pot? An image slightly vertically oversized could appear "vertically pincoushoned"...

I don't see a vertical size pot, which one is that? Also I recently did a cap kit, left all the low voltage and low uf caps alone, as I did not find any of the larger ones that were out of spec so I left the small ones. Speaking of which my chassis had drastically different caps than what was listed on the kit, i figured it was just a newer revision.

Weird: there's some error mounting caps or an out of specs one in my opinion... complete your cap replacement first and start from there. Rolling back to old caps could be an option to troubleshoot the issue if you replaced only few of those factory caps.

that is not a common fault,i have rarely seen this and i work on many monitors
i have seen this only when there has been a yoke mismatch but that is unlikely in your case,another possibility could be the yoke itself has become damaged internally which is common on digital wells chassis when the crt insulation paint flakes off onto the yoke and starts to corrode it in spots
the only way you can prove that is yoke or chassis is to swap in a known good chassis

I won't have access to a good known chassis. Would you suggest I go through all the caps? It is not bad enough to do anything more than that I don't think. I can live with it.

you can only improve the chassis by changing the caps so it's a worthwhile venture

Agreed, it's odd thing is the cap kit I bought is not even close to many of the caps that are in my unit. Most had the white goo holding them in, so I'm assuming it's factory. I would also assume my chassis is a different revision of the 9200.

there were 2 versions of d9200,the common one we see in the u.k is d9204 and was used in global vr nfs and raw thrills fnf

that is glue holding the caps in place,they all have this

i will give you an example of oddball faults caused by bad caps,this week i repaired a d9204-original fault not powering on.I found the flyback was faulty and after replacing it the monitor powered on with a good picture,when i pressed the menu button on the remote the screen would demag and shut off for a second-this was down to the caps next to where the remote plugs in on the chassis.It took quite some time to prove this as I was convinced it was an ic fault at first

Strange mine is quite a bit different than what comes with the standard Bob Roberts cap kit for this chassis. Maybe a different revision. I'm pretty sure the caps from mine are original from factory as they had the white goo still on them. For a few examples I had the following different caps installed. For the most part the voltages were higher than what comes with the cap kits but I did not want to drop to a lower voltage. The exception is c826 & c827, which have a drastic capacitance difference as well as the voltages.

I'm late to this party but.... there is a rotation control on the main board, center rear. I see no reference to it on here, have you tried adjusting that???
