need help with sketch up
« on: December 09, 2015, 12:16:32 am »
i've been going back and forth with graphics for my cabinet.  problem is that i do not have a standard shape, so i cannot use stock artwork without a lot of the image getting cut out.

i decided to give sketchup a try and i think i got my cabinet pretty accurate as far as measurements go, however i am stuck.

I can't seem to figure out how to export the 2d graphic to get it open in photoshop to use as a layer thats actual size, so i can work my graphics and eventually send to a printer for a perfect match to the cabinet.

overall dimensions would be 38 x 77".  when i export as jpeg or png and try to paste into a doc of the mentioned size, it is microscopic and looks like crap when i fit it to the canvas.

can someone please help me with this? i have attached the sketchup file if that helps

Can you post a screenshot of your cab?  I'm curious about how it looks, but I don't currently have sketchup on this PC and would like to see it.

YMMV, but I think there will be more casual interest and support if you post a preview.

Say, in regards to the plans you followed.  Do you have a copy of the side panel?  If you posted that as a template, I bet that would be a good starting point.

well what i did was took the online measurements and made a cardboard template which i then scribed onto the mdf and cut out with a jig saw.

http://www.arcadecab.com/images/Cabinet_Dimensions_NEW%20Layout1%20%281%29.pdf

thats the site, but my measurements are alittle off from that, which is why i was trying to use sketchup.

I went from, "hey i wonder if you could build an arcade cabinet", to finding this site and hyperspin.  3-4 weeks later the cabinet was done, i probably should have researched for a week or 2 before building.

Stay cool Iceman.  Some people like me post whole long we have been a member, post a few incomplete projects; like I have and still don't have an operating game in service (I don't)

As long as you have fun or had fun building it is what is important. :afro:
