Sony trinitron Scart TV issue

Hey guys new to this forum , would any of you guys have any experience with the following tv
I need to access the service menu but the code I found online doesn't work
It's Press , standby, display , 5 , vol +, the power on , but unfortunately pressing
Key 5 on the remote brings it straight out of standby . Any ideas thanks

Im pretty sure I've used that model or something similar before. It's defo a combo like that. Are you using the original remote control? If not then it might not be working as you'd expect.

Try finding the manual online which helped me.

Well there loads of great info in the manual cheers guys . turns out I was pressing a wrong key the writing on the buttons has worn away with age , was trying to turn it on with the standby button . lol this set is way to heavy to put in a cabinet like I was planning , was expecting a smaller set when I collected it. Hopefully its up to the job ,☺
