TY for the feedback. I slipstreamed SP2 into XP 64bit, thank you for the site.
Which .net installer did you download for .net 3 and .net 4?
Ok I like Attract Mode for a front end, what is everyone else using other than HyperSpin. I feel like years of my life have went into setting up and tweaking Hyperspin.
Based on comments here I am going to take my old media center system with a better AMD X2 and better PSU to use for my Arcade Cab. This Asus Mobo will become the new OpenMediaVault NAS.
So here is the weird thing that I encountered when installing HyperSpin on my XP 64-bit machine. I figured that .net 4 would be all I needed. So I installed that, forgoing the installation of .net 2 & 3.5. Well, RocketLauncher clunks out if you don't have .net 2 installed (wtf?). And once you install .net 4, you can't install .net 2. You have to remove .net 4, then reinstall them all in sequence. Also, I installed the version of .net 2 that comes with the official AMD driver for my 4890 card (it is in packages folder of your driver files). I got .net 3.5 & 4 by using Windows Update Download (WUD). Of course, I don't install the official AMD drivers and install Calamity's.
One other problem was HyperSync hangs when it is validating which version of WMP11 you have installed on your PC. I worked around this by just copying whatever media folder I had on a W7 machine I have going. Perhaps you won't have this problem if you have all the media downloaded from a previous install and can do the same.
You might run into a problem with an error message installing .net with that ISO: "Windows Installer Service cannot be accessed." That is easily fixed with these regsvr commands:
Run %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /unregister
Run %windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /unregister
Run %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /regserver
Run %windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /regserver
Restart the computer
And use WinToFlash to load XP 64-bit on a USB stick to make the install faster (selection option 1 upon first bootup to usb, then option 2). You should be fine from there.
