Leap, Pixelhugger showed this to me years ago and it is the only way I know how to do it. Open Illustrator, post a button template that is at 300 dpi.

Next step, lock the template and create a new layer over the template.

Next step select "rectangle tool".

Then draw a square around your buttons, you can always adjust it later.

While it is still selected, you can set your "stroke" color and size, which can be adjusted later too.

Next step go to "stylize" then to "round corners".


When the window pops up, change the value anywhere between 100 to 130, it may vary, but I stick to around 110 or so. And also have the "preview" selected so you can see where the corners are.
